Original 15 Mukhi Rudraksha

The 15 Mukhi Rudraksha is a fifteen-faced bead of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, traditionally associated with Lord Pashupatinath, a compassionate form of Lord Shiva, and linked to the planet Mercury (Budh) and the Anahata or heart chakra. Also called Pandrah Mukhi Rudraksha, it is worn for emotional healing, forgiveness and harmony in relationships. Its beej mantra is Om Hreem Namah. A genuine 15 Mukhi Rudraksha has fifteen unbroken natural mukhi lines running from crown to base, and should always be supplied with a laboratory certificate and X-ray verification. At Rudraksha Sanskar, every bead is individually numbered, lab certified and X-ray checked before dispatch.

What is 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

A Rudraksha is the seed of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree. Natural clefts run down its surface from crown to base, and the number of these clefts, called the mukhi, determines which deity and planetary energy the bead is traditionally linked to. A 15 Mukhi Rudraksha carries fifteen such natural lines.
The fifteen-faced bead is attributed to Lord Pashupatinath, the form of Lord Shiva worshipped as the compassionate lord of all beings, whose principal shrine stands on the Bagmati river in Kathmandu. Where lower-mukhi beads are chosen for protection or focus, the 15 Mukhi is chosen for the heart: for releasing emotional weight a person has carried too long, for forgiveness, and for the steadiness that lets someone care for others without being drained by it.

Meaning and Significance of 15 Mukhi Rudraksha

In classical Rudraksha tradition, described in the Shiva Purana and the Padma Purana, beads are ranked not by size but by mukhi count, and each count carries its own deity and planetary rulership. The fifteen-faced bead sits among the higher-mukhi varieties valued for emotional and spiritual maturity rather than for material gain.

It is linked with the Anahata or heart chakra, the centre traditionally associated with love, empathy and generosity, and with the planet Mercury (Budh), which governs clarity of thought, communication and judgement. That pairing is the point of the bead: emotional turbulence damages clear thinking first, and the 15 Mukhi is worn to steady both together.

People who feel emotionally exhausted, heartbroken, unable to forgive, or disconnected from their own sense of peace are the ones who traditionally turn to this bead. It is a bead of repair rather than acquisition.

15 Mukhi Rudraksha Benefits

  • Traditionally believed to support emotional healing and the release of past pain.
  • Associated with forgiveness, compassion and heart-centred balance.
  • Chosen for harmony in marriage, family life and close working relationships.
  • Linked with the Anahata or heart chakra and with emotional steadiness.
  • Believed to calm anxiety and restlessness during difficult periods.
  • Associated with the planet Mercury (Budh) and clearer thinking under emotional pressure.
  • Supports devotion, japa and meditation for followers of Lord Shiva.
  • Worn by both men and women

These benefits are drawn from Rudraksha tradition and the reported experience of wearers. They are not medical claims. Rudraksha is a spiritual practice, worn alongside professional medical care and never in place of it.

Who Should Wear 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

The 15 Mukhi Rudraksha suits people whose work or life runs through their emotions: those recovering from grief, heartbreak or a long period of stress; couples wanting to rebuild harmony at home; counsellors, therapists, doctors, nurses and caregivers who absorb other people’s distress; teachers and HR professionals; and spiritual seekers devoted to Lord Shiva. Both men and women can wear it.

It is not usually the first Rudraksha someone should buy. If you are new to Rudraksha, a 5 Mukhi Rudraksha or a guided combination is the better starting point. You can also use our Rudraksha calculator or book a consultation, so that the bead is matched to your chart and your intent rather than to a guess.

How to Identify Original 15 Mukhi Rudraksha

  1. Count the mukhi lines. There must be exactly fifteen natural clefts running unbroken from the crown to the base. Count them twice, in good light, rotating the bead as you go.
  2. Look for natural irregularity. Real mukhi lines vary in depth and are never perfectly symmetrical. Machine-carved lines look too even, too sharp and too shallow.
  3. Check the crown and the base. Carving or joining usually leaves tool marks, glue residue or an unnatural seam at the ends.
  4. Ask for the X-ray report. An X-ray shows the internal seed compartments, which should correspond to the mukhi count on the surface.
  5. Ask for the lab certificate. It should carry a unique certificate number tied to that specific bead, for example DCL/2026/A/0237, not a generic seller declaration.
  6. Inspect the seeds under the lines. On a genuine bead these appear naturally set, not glued or filled.
  7. Question the price. A certified 15 Mukhi Rudraksha starts at around Rs 2,850 for a small Indonesian bead and rises sharply with size and origin. A large bead offered for a few hundred rupees is a misclassified or manipulated bead.

How to Wear 15 Mukhi Rudraksha: Day, Method and Mantra

  1. Choose the day. Monday is traditionally preferred for a Shiva bead. Ekadashi, Mahashivratri or an auspicious muhurat also works.
  2. Bathe and set up. Begin in the morning after bathing, facing east, in a clean space.
  3. Cleanse the bead. Rinse it in clean water, then in raw cow’s milk if available, rinse again with water and wipe it dry. Some traditions add a light touch of pure ghee or sandalwood paste.
  4. Offer and energise. Place the bead before a Shiva lingam or an image of Lord Pashupatinath, offer flowers, bilva leaves and incense, and chant the beej mantra Om Hreem Namah 108 times.
  5. Wear it. Wear it as a pendant on a red or white cotton or silk thread, or capped in silver, gold or panchdhatu, so the bead rests near the heart in contact with the skin.
  6. Keep it on. Traditionally the bead is worn continuously, including while sleeping. Remove it during oil massage, chemical hair treatment, or any activity where it may be soiled or damaged.
  7. Maintain the practice. Chant the mantra briefly each morning. Consistency matters more than elaborate ritual.

Care, Precautions and Who Should Avoid It

  • Keep the bead clean and dry. Wipe it with a soft cloth. Apply a drop of pure mustard or sesame oil every few months so the surface does not dry out and crack.
  • Remove it before an oil massage, swimming pools, salon chemical treatments, and heavy physical work where it can be struck.
  • Do not share your bead. A Rudraksha is worn as a personal item.
  • Traditional practice advises removing it, or following your own family custom, at cremation grounds and during periods of ritual impurity.
  • Store it on a clean cloth or in a wooden or silver box, not loose in a drawer with metal.
  • Who should reconsider: anyone buying it as a shortcut to a fixed outcome, and anyone new to Rudraksha who has not taken guidance. Take a consultation first.
  • If you have a medical or psychological condition, treat Rudraksha as a spiritual practice alongside professional care, never in place of it.

15 Mukhi Rudraksha Price: What Changes the Cost

A certified 15 Mukhi Rudraksha at Rudraksha Sanskar currently ranges from Rs 2,850 to Rs 5,00,000, across 92 beads in stock. Five things set the price:

  1. Origin. Nepal beads are larger, more deeply grooved and rarer, and cost more than Indonesian (Java) beads of the same mukhi.
  2. Size. Our stock runs from 14.8 mm to 40 mm. Price rises steeply above roughly 30 mm, because large fifteen-faced beads are uncommon.
  3. Weight and density. A heavier bead of the same size is denser and better formed. Our stock ranges from 0.53 gm to 10 gm.
  4. Clarity of the mukhi lines. Clean, unbroken, evenly spaced lines command a premium over faint or partly merged ones.
  5. Certification. A bead with a numbered lab certificate and an X-ray report is worth more than an uncertified one, because you are paying for verified identity rather than a seller’s claim.

FAQ's about 15 Mukhi Rudraksha

What is 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

The 15 Mukhi Rudraksha is a fifteen-faced bead of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, traditionally associated with Lord Pashupatinath, a compassionate form of Lord Shiva. It is also called Pandrah Mukhi Rudraksha and is worn for emotional healing, relationship harmony and heart-centred balance.

What are the benefits of 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

It is traditionally believed to support emotional healing, the release of past pain, forgiveness, compassion and harmony in relationships. Wearers also associate it with a calmer mind under stress and steadier decision-making. These are traditional beliefs, not medical claims.

What is the beej mantra of 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

The beej mantra of the 15 Mukhi Rudraksha is Om Hreem Namah. It is traditionally chanted 108 times, or in multiples of 108, when the bead is first worn, and briefly each morning after that. Some traditions also use Om Namah Shivaya.

How do you wear a 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

Wear it on a Monday morning after bathing, facing east. Cleanse the bead in clean water and raw cow’s milk, offer it before a Shiva lingam with flowers and incense, chant Om Hreem Namah 108 times, then wear it as a pendant on a red or white thread, or capped in silver, gold or panchdhatu, so that it rests near the heart.

How can I identify an original 15 Mukhi Rudraksha?

An original bead has exactly fifteen natural, unbroken mukhi lines running from crown to base, with irregular depth rather than machine-perfect symmetry. Ask for an X-ray report and a laboratory certificate carrying a unique number for that specific bead. Avoid artificial cuts, heavy polish and sellers without authenticity assurance.
